SINULOG FESTIVAL
As I stand in the midst of the crowd along the Fuente Osmeña circle, my attention was caught by those ladies in groups who were shouting and giving out shrill voices. Yes, maybe it's kinda natural for us girls that we tend to shout and howl whenever w see faces of people whom we referred to as our idols. Riding in colorful floats are some local artists- Kapuso, Kapamilyas, Kapatids, and evn politicians. But then, I came to ask myself, what is really then the essence of celebrating the Sinulog festival? Is it all about going out from our respective homes just to see Richard Guttierez, Kim Chiu, Coco Martin, and Piolo Pascual?
The celebration of Sinulog is all about honoring our Snr. Sto. Niño and nothing else but only for the child Jesus. We go to the church and pray novenas for 9 days. But most of the Cebuanos nowadays,.I think the main reason for their celebration is to see their idols in person. Sad to say, but this is really true.
As Cebuanos and devotees of the child Jesus as well, we should always bear in mind that SINULOG IS FOR SENYOR STO. Niño!
